West Chester Story Slam

“Into The Wild” is the theme of the next West Chester Story Slam, which takes place at Side Bar & Restaurant on Tuesday, June 11. According to West Chester Story Slam’s website:

The word “wild” is key here. Sure, we would like to hear stories about the plains of the Serengeti, the peaks of Kilimanjaro, and the base camp in Nepal, so bring your favorite outdoorsman story with you. These stories could be about survival, beauty, or solitude. Stories about self discovery. The term “wild” can also be used in other situations that occur closer to home. Did you find yourself in the thick of a potential protest or riot? Perhaps you visited a frat house where the party got a bit out of hand?

The event is sure to bring joy and laughter with the storytelling beginning at 8:00PM. Limited seating is available, so please reserve your seats online by clicking here. Last month’s event sold out so don’t wait get your tickets today!

Pay WC Parking Tickets Online!

If you visit West Chester regularly I’m sure you have most likely received a parking ticket and know how annoying it can be to trek down to the borough offices or mail in the fines. Lucky for us the West Chester Borough recently unveiled (back in December) a new feature that allows people to pay their parking tickets online on the borough’s website!

In order to pay a parking ticket, simply go to the borough’s website and click the blue “Parking Fine Payments” button on the right side of the screen or simply click here to be directed. The service requires that you enter your e-mail address as well as your citation number or license plate number. Let’s face it, no one likes getting a parking ticket, but it happens. At least now we can pay the parking violations from the conviance of our homes. To learn how to avoid getting a parking violation in Downtown West Chester check out this awesome video explaining the best places to park in WC!

West Chester Story Slam Tonight

Old book bindings at the Merton College library.

Image via Wikipedia

If you haven’t been to a West Chester’s “Story Slam,”  you might assume that it’s rife with the kind get-down-and-dirty, bare-all happenings found in many small-time comedy clubs – a kind of mud wrestling for the literary set. Tonight’s Story Slam, which is the final one before the best of the lot compete for the “Grand Slam” in November, is likely to have one shocking story among the evening’s line-up.  That goes with the territory. Still, the point of Story Slam is not necessarily standing before an audience and baring one’s soul.  It’s the act of creating, often on the spot, a cohesive narrative that the audience may (or may not) deem great story-telling.

The West Chester Story Slam

Where:  Ryan’s Pub. 124 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380

Date: Tonight, October 11, 2011

Time: Begins at 8 p.m. Come early for the best seats.

Features:  Open to all people – both spectators and story-tellers. All stories have a time limit and must follow this month’s theme: celebrity sightings. As the web site describes it, “come on out and tell your story about a brush with greatness.” Tonight’s Slam is also the last chance to see who will go onto the final November Grand Slam.
