Traveling to the New Jersey Beaches this Summer?

I recently became aware of the New Jersey State Polices new 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. I thought I would forward this message along incase local residents plan on traveling down to the beach this summer or happen to work in New Jersey.

Starting July 28, New Jersey will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. One million dollars will go to pay state troopers over-time. There will be 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways as follows:

  • I-295 North and South,
  • I-95 Jersey Turnpike North and South,
  • I-80 East and West,
  • I-287 North and South,
  • I-78 East and West,
  • I-195 East and West,
  • I-280 East and West,
  • Route 130 – North and South,
  • Garden State Parkway – North and South

5 MPH above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and are bringing in all of their part-timers on full time. If you work in NJ, NY, DE or CT, you will probably be on one of these highways. So, please be on guard and drive safely! Please forward this to people in NJ or any one using the NJ Highways, and let them know of this latest Police Initiative.

Pay WC Parking Tickets Online!

If you visit West Chester regularly I’m sure you have most likely received a parking ticket and know how annoying it can be to trek down to the borough offices or mail in the fines. Lucky for us the West Chester Borough recently unveiled (back in December) a new feature that allows people to pay their parking tickets online on the borough’s website!

In order to pay a parking ticket, simply go to the borough’s website and click the blue “Parking Fine Payments” button on the right side of the screen or simply click here to be directed. The service requires that you enter your e-mail address as well as your citation number or license plate number. Let’s face it, no one likes getting a parking ticket, but it happens. At least now we can pay the parking violations from the conviance of our homes. To learn how to avoid getting a parking violation in Downtown West Chester check out this awesome video explaining the best places to park in WC!

Parking in Downtown West Chester

Parking meter 1

Downtown West Chester has ample parking available for visitors even during events. Your best, worry-free options are the two municipal garages — the BicentennialChestnut Street garages — located in the center of downtown. Each provides easy access to hundreds of businesses. You pay for just what you use and never have to worry about getting an overtime parking ticket. Many merchants and restaurants validate garage parking, so take your garage parking ticket with you.

Metered Parking

There are meters on-street and in several parking lots. Meters take quarters only, 15-minutes for each quarter up to three-hours. Metered parking is enforced from 8am to 10pm Monday through Friday and 5pm to 10pm on Saturday. Parking on Sunday is free. (Once the time on the meter has expired, parked cars are subject to an overtime parking ticket.)
