Coming this Thursday August 21, 2013 in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the famous civil rights march on Washington, author Catherine Quillman leads a guided tour featuring sites related to civil rights activist Bayard Rustin. It starts at Chester County Historical Society (225 N High St) at 5:00pm. After the tour, there are refreshments and a book signing featuring Quillman’s new book “Walking the East End II”. Downtown Events: This Saturday June 18th!
Enjoy breakfast at the The Lincoln Room (28 W Market), one of the downtown’s most historic buildings, followed by a guided tour that highlights West Chester’s history and its place on the Underground Railroad, the connection to Abraham Lincoln, the architecture of Thomas U. Walter, and how the bloodless Battle of Turks Head established West Chester as the county seat. Breakfast at 8 am; tour at 9:30 am.
