Parking in Downtown West Chester

After receiving a parking ticket in Downtown West Chester the other day, I thought it would be a good time to clear up confusion and remind visitors about parking. First and foremost, I would advise you, if you haven’t already, to watch Malena’s Where to Park in West Chester video. Also, on-street parking meters have been changed to allow customers to park up to three hours. At the same time, there are new hours of enforcement posted on affected meters:

  • 8am to 10pm, Monday thru Friday.
  • FREE on Saturday until 5pm. Saturday evening enforcement from 5pm to 10pm.
  • FREE on Sunday except during major events which have a $5 flat fee.
Your best option for parking in downtown West Chester are the centrally located municipal parking garages. Park as long as you want and have no fear of getting a parking ticket. To add convenience to downtown parking, there is a pilot program currently underway to test new parking meters. They’re the shiny ones found on portions of Gay and Market Streets and they now accept Visa/Mastercard as well as quarters. Incase you do encounter a ticket in the future, paying them just got a little easier! You can now pay them online by visiting the Borough of West Chester’ official website www.west-chester.com.

Pay WC Parking Tickets Online!

If you visit West Chester regularly I’m sure you have most likely received a parking ticket and know how annoying it can be to trek down to the borough offices or mail in the fines. Lucky for us the West Chester Borough recently unveiled (back in December) a new feature that allows people to pay their parking tickets online on the borough’s website!

In order to pay a parking ticket, simply go to the borough’s website and click the blue “Parking Fine Payments” button on the right side of the screen or simply click here to be directed. The service requires that you enter your e-mail address as well as your citation number or license plate number. Let’s face it, no one likes getting a parking ticket, but it happens. At least now we can pay the parking violations from the conviance of our homes. To learn how to avoid getting a parking violation in Downtown West Chester check out this awesome video explaining the best places to park in WC!

Parking in Downtown West Chester

Downtown West Chester has ample parking available for visitors even during events. Your best, worry-free options are the two municipal garages — the BicentennialChestnut Street garages — located in the center of downtown. Each provides easy access to hundreds of businesses. You pay for just what you use and never have to worry about getting an overtime parking ticket. Many merchants and restaurants validate garage parking, so take your garage parking ticket with you.

Metered Parking

There are meters on-street and in several parking lots. Meters take quarters only, 15-minutes for each quarter up to three-hours. Metered parking is enforced from 8am to 10pm Monday through Friday and 5pm to 10pm on Saturday. Parking on Sunday is free. (Once the time on the meter has expired, parked cars are subject to an overtime parking ticket.)
