“Paint Along” Workshop at the Chester County Art Association

This Friday, September 13th, The Chester County Art Association will be hosting a “Paint Along” Workshop. Come join in the fun as Annette Alessi will host a “Paint Along” Workshop using oils from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Chester County Art Association. Learn oil techniques and create a painting while following along with Annette as she paints the same scene. Cost is $120 for a 4-week session. Beginner to Intermediate students are welcome. Gallery Walk | June 1st

Shops will be open late and more than a dozen gallery openings and special shows will take place. Go to WestChesterGalleryWalk.com for the map and list of Gallery Previews. Of special interest is the Vintage Garage Sale and En Plein Air, both occuring at the new Chestnut Street Garage — the Vintage Garage Sale on the ground floor and En Plein Air on the rooftop. Across the street is the Chester County Historical Society (225 N High St, 610-692-4800) presenting artist John Hannafin with special guest Bam Margara. The museum is also offering FREE addmission of their current exhibits throughout the day.

Paint the Town

If you have never witnessed a plein air event (painting outdoors) then be prepared to see artists with easels and photographers clicking away at scenic locations throughout West Chester this Thursday. For many of the participants will have a chance to compete for a $3,000 First Prize (one for each category, photography and painting), among other prizes and recognitions. For all the details see below!

• Where: Various locations in West Chester including the Chester County Art Association at 100 North Bradford Ave. in West Chester.

• Date: Thursday, Sept. 29th.

• Time: Beginning at 9 a.m.

Features: The day’s Plein Air events include workshops for  artists at West Chester University and Chester County Art Association (9:00 a.m. — 11:30 p.m.) . There will also be a “quick draw” competition”  for children and families in front of the old Court House (4:00 p.m. — 6:00 p.m.).  The public is also invited to a  Block Party and “wet paint” art sale to be held along Gay Street, near “Kaly’s.”  (6:00 p.m. — 9:00 p.m.). Visitors have the opportunity to discover the galleries, “one night only” art shows, shops and restaurants in downtown West Chester.
