Reserve Your Spot At Talula’s Table

Everyone knows that to book a table at Talula’s Table, in Kennett Square, you typically have to call a full year in advance. There are only two tables in the restaurant per night: the Farm Table (seats eight to 12 diners) and the Chef’s Table (seats two to eight patrons). However, currently there are a few rare openings and the opportunity to score a coveted reservation. West Chester Story Slam Returns

The West Chester Story Slam will celebrate the launch of its fifth season on Tuesday, January 14th with a story slam themed “Firsts!” Anyone can take the stage and tell their five minute true story based on the night’s theme. Three judges are selected from the audience and the storytellers will be given scores based on content and presentation. The winning storyteller wins a coveted West Chester Story Slam coffee mug and, more importantly, a slot in the 2014 GRAND SLAM! Here’s how the theme “Firsts!” is described on the West Chester Story Slam website:

The theme “Firsts” could be about your first love, first job, first wife, first husband, first car, first bicycle, first child, first pet, etc. You get the idea! We want to hear your memorable moments – good and bad – and what you learned from your first ___________!

The Story Slam is held on the second floor at Side Bar and Restaurant, located in Downtown West Chester, PA. The show begins at 8:00pm but people often arrive around 7:00pm for dinner. For more information or to reserve a seat click here or visit www.wcstoryslam.com.

A snow storm moved through the region Thursday, closing schools and wreaking havoc with roads and traffic. According to the National Weather Service, here’s how much snow the region got on Thursday night and Friday morning:

Events Happening This February Weekend

There are a ton of events happening around the West Chester area this weekend. Instead of sitting inside all weekend waiting for the Super Bowl, get out and enjoy the first weekend of February in style!

Winter Series Race

When: Saturday, Feb. 2 at 9:10 a.m.
Where:Athlete’s Closet 11 N. 5 Points Rd. West Chester

Why Go: This is the third race in the series of four. Free kid’s run at 9:10 AM and the kids will receive ribbons. Races go through the local neighborhood.

Souperbowl 2013

When: Friday, Feb. 1 from 7 – 10 p.m.
Where: Good Will Fire Company 552 E Union St, West Chester
Why Go: Come taste the best soups and breads made by local chefs competing for the People’s Choice Award by category. Watch the viral Ads played during past Super Bowls. Proceeds will benefit the Chester County Food Bank. Westtown Goshen Rotary is sponsoring the event.

Spoil Yourself Saturday

The Winter’s Tale

Where: People’s Light and Theatre Company
Why Go: Enjoy this tale of kings and queens, revenge and betrayal, spanning countries, seasons, decades, and generations. Inspired by the ancient pagan festivals, Winter’s Tale will be a viscerally-dynamic event featuring live music and acrobatics. Arrive a half hour early and enjoy warm cider, music and dance.

Malvern Retreat House’s ArtShow 2013

When: Wednesday, Jan. 30 to Sunday, Feb. , 11 a.m.-8 p.m. (Sun. Feb. 3 from 11 a.m. till 4 p.m.)

Winter in Chester County

New Year’s Eve in West Chester

West Chester Dish has an awesome guide to everything happening in the West Chester area this New Year’s Eve. Check out some of the many events below and head over to http://www.WestChesterDish.com to see more!

Avalon will be serving a European Style Menu with multiple courses of smaller portions. The first seating is from 5:30-7:30 pm ($70 per person) and includes dinner and complimentary champagne. The second seating starts at 9:00 pm ($80 per person) and includes dinner, champagne toast at midnight and live entertainment from Steve Laret. Reservations required.

On New Year’s Eve, kids eat free from 4 to 7 p.m. The downstairs is open with regular specials and a champagne toast at midnight. Upstairs, it’s Steak’s Annual New Year’s Eve Party. Bull Durham’s has two packages available-one with dinner and acoustic music by Johny Turk from 5 to 8 p.m. If you want to enjoy a two-course dinner with champagne and head home to celebrate ($29.95 per person).
