Masters of Motown at WCU

This Saturday, November 9, 2013, WCU Live! presents the entire Motor City experience with Masters of Motown, one of the great experiences in musical history. The 10-member cast includes three female vocalists and three male vocalists supported by a live back-up band. Together they reproduce an authentic style and sound that made Motown what it is. Brandywine River Museum Events

The Brandywine River Museum is hosting two awesome events coming up this month. For more information see the event information below!

  • The Sermon! Jazz Concert | Friday, October 11, 2013: Enjoy an evening of classic soul, funk, and jazz in this concert presented by World Cafe Live at the Queen. The Sermon! takes its name from the classic Jimmy Smith record and is primarily an instrumental, Hammond B-3 organ-driven group. Admission is $25 for adults, $20 for members and students.   • All Hallows’ Eve Costume Ball | Saturday, October 26: Step right up for the greatest party on the Brandywine! Join the Young Friends of the Brandywine Conservancy under the big top at the “fairgrounds.” Your ticket includes games, cocktails, concession food, music, and costume contest. Music at Marshall Square Park

This Thursday, Friends of West Chester Parks & Recreation presents the Marshall Square Park Summer Concert Series starting at 6:30pm and is free for the entire family! Featured is a special Billy Joel night with John Grecia. Bring blankets or chairs and enjoy a community picnic.

Also, if your into local music make sure to check out Turks Head Music Festival this Sunday. Over a dozen bands will share two stages at the 2013 Turks Head Music Festival. The day-long celebration of regional music will be held at Everhart Park starting at 11am. Up to 90 artists set up booths throughout the park to sell their high quality arts and crafts. Local food vendors will keep everyone well-fed. Presented by the Borough of West Chester’s Parks and Recreation Dept. Rain date: July 28. FREE for the whole family.

Anson B. Nixon Park’s Concert Series Returns

The Summer Concert Series Stage

Live music overlooking a picturesque pond, beneath the cooling trees and sparkling stars at Anson B. Nixon Park located right around the corner in Kennett Square! The park’s annual summer Concert Series kicks off June 19, and there’s plenty for everyone to love in the lineup. Enjoy a wide variety of local and regional bands all summer on the park stage. The concerts begin promptly at 7 p.m. and are always family friendly. Pets (on a leash) are welcome, too! Grab a lawn chair or blanket and pack a picnic or enjoy a light supper catered by a different local restaurant each week. La Michoacana Ice Cream will be on the scene with icy cold treats to cool you down. Swingin’ Summer Thursdays

This Thursday come downtown to enjoy Swingin’ Summer Thursdays! The event brings great bands, great food, crafters, clowns, jugglers and more to downtown starting at 6:30pm.
