Next week route 202 drivers will encounter nighttime travel restrictions for construction between Route 29 and U.S. Route 30 in Tredyffrin and East Whiteland townships, including the closure of the northbound off-ramp to Route 29 south, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.
This work is part of two PennDOT projects to improve travel and reduce congestion on Route 202 by rebuilding and expanding the highway to six lanes between the Swedesford Road and Route 30 interchanges. The combined construction value of the projects is $168.7 million.
The contractor’s schedule is currently as followed:
- Sunday through Thursday (June 16-20):Route 202 north will be reduced to one lane between Route 30 and Route 401 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge construction.
- Sunday through Thursday (June 16-20): Route 202 north will be reduced to one lane between Route 30 and Route 401 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge construction.
- Sunday through Wednesday (June 16-19): Route 202 south will be reduced to one lane between the Mill Lane overpass, located north of Route 401, and the Church Road overpass, located south of Route 401, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for construction at the Route 401 interchange;
- Tuesday (June 18): the Matthews Road on-ramp to Route 202 north at the Route 29 Interchange will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday (June 19) for paving; and
- Friday (June 21): Route 202 north will be reduced to one lane at the Route 29 Interchange from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday (June 22) for activities related to closing the northbound off-ramp to Route 29 south (Morehall Road). The off-ramp will be closed at 10 p.m. Friday for approximately six weeks for mainline paving on Route 202 and retaining wall construction.
