Where to find Santa in West Chester

December is right around the corner and you know what that means? Santa is coming to town! Below are some events happening in and around West Chester that are perfect to enjoy with the entire family. For more information visit http://www.downtownwestchester.com.

Breakfast with Santa | Saturday, December 7: Enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast with Santa! Children will have a chance to sit with Santa, share their Christmas wishes, and take pictures with Santa (don’t forget to bring your camera). Limited seating, must pre-register. Download this registration form. Parking at Chestnut Street Garage. Call 610-436-9010 for more information. Buster seats and highchairs are not provided.

  • Two-seatings: 8:30am and 10:00am
  • Cost: $14 per person (2 years and over)
  • Location: Chester County Historical Society, 225 North High St.

Meet Santa before the Christmas Parade | Saturday, December 7: Come downtown before the Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade begins and meet with Santa to share your wish list and have a picture taken (bring your camera).

  • Time: Starting at 6:00pm
  • Location: DNB First, 2 North Church Street

Santa’s Express on the West Chester Railroad: Families can join Santa for a 90-minute journey on the heated and decorated train through the Chester Creek Valley. Santa will be greeting everyone at Market Street Station and then going along for the ride to Glen Mills. Once at Glen Mills passengers can disembark and explore the historic station. There are plenty of photo opportunities on Santa’s lap inside the station. Remember your cameras! Upon return to West Chester, all passengers receive treats from Santa. Passengers will also enjoy the live music of Greg Wright and friends singing all of your favorite Christmas songs. They take requests so don’t be shy! See more information at WestChesterRR.net.

Old-Fashioned Christmas

West Chester Area Community Chorus Annual Winter Concert

The 17th Annual West Chester Area Community Chorus (including 100+ choral members) will present its Winter Concert beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2013 in the East High School Auditorium at 450 Ellis Lane, West Chester, PA.  As frequent attendees and guests can attest, the concert features a variety of musical arrangements, including Broadway, pop, folk, classical, spirituals, and more. Get ready for Runa at WCU

Taking place on January 25th, WCU Live! presents Runa, performing a contemporary and refreshing approach to Celtic music. Performance is 7:30pm at Madeleine Wing Adler Theatre at West Chester University. Adults $20; Seniors/Students $15. Details at WCU Department of Cultural & Community Affairs.

Featuring gorgeous harp accompaniment, this beloved work transports us to the middle ages with a 20th century flair. Horse-drawn Carriage Rides

Looking for a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride but don’t want to travel far? Lucky for you the neighboring town of Kennett Square will be offering one more holiday carriage ride for the season! Rides are available from the Genesis Brick Walkway 101 East State Street, Kennett Square from Noon to 3 pm on Sunday, December 23rd. Parking is free on Sundays & is available in the Municipal Parking Garage or along the street. There is a charge of $5 per person, with the exception of very small children sitting on a lap. Parking Reminder for Holiday Shoppers

Don’t be confused about parking downtown this holiday season. See Malena’s Where to Park in West Chester offering easy tips for parking in an entertaining video. Remember, on-street parking meters have been changed to allow customers to park up to three hours. At the same time, there are new hours of enforcement posted on affected meters:
  • 8am to 10pm, Monday thru Friday.
  • FREE on Saturday until 5pm. Saturday evening enforcement from 5pm to 10pm.
  • FREE on Sunday except during major events which have a $5 flat fee.

Your best option for parking in downtown West Chester are the centrally located municipal parking garages. Park as long as you want and have no fear of getting a parking ticket.
