Summer Fun Guide 2012

West Chester Parks and Recreation has provided West Chester with some wonderfully entertaining events that are fun for the entire family. The whole line up for the summer is below make sure to check them all out!

Swingin’ Summer Thursdays

Swingin’ Thursdays are set to return the first Thursday of every month, beginning May 31. The special event takes place from 6:30 to 9:30 pm on Gay Street in West Chester. Each first Thursday will feature food, clowns, artists, magicians, jugglers and loads of family fun. Live music will also grace the event, with different performers each month.

Vintage Garage Sale

The Chestnut Street Parking garage and West Chester Recreation will host a Vintage Garage Sale on Friday, June 1st from 4 to 9 pm. Participation is limited to 21 spaces so snag your spot today by filling out an application at www.west-chester.com/recreation.php. Or, take advantage of the unique finds from vendors like freshvintage, Vidalia’s Vintage, and 50/50 Company all in one place and head to the event, prepared for purchase. The clothing, home decor, artwork and accessories are one of kind items that deserve a loving home. Walk fast, run, scooter or dance (they don’t care how you get there) to 14 East Chestnut Street for vintage First Friday fun you won’t want to miss. Food vendors likeDia Doce will be on site as well!

Flea Market & Bike Sale

Finished with spring cleaning and now sure what to do with all your “trash?” Come out to the Flea Market! Reserve your space today for only $15 by calling 610-436-9010! Those interested may pick up a registration form from the office at 401 East Gay St. The event will unfold Saturday, June 2 from 9 am to 2 pm. If you don’t have trash but are looking to find your bike a new home, this is the place to be as well! Bikes must be brought by 10 am to the Municipal Building and be in riding condition. Register with West Chester Recreation, whom you’ll share the profits with 80/20 and have a price in mind! Return at 2 pm to see if the bike sold. They “wheely” hope to see you there! Super Sundays

Sundays are usually bitter sweet. A day of relaxation, with no worries, yet Monday looms in the future. Enjoy Sundays the right way, the SUPER way, and forget about tomorrow (Monday). Gather with friends and family on Gay Street (between Matlack and Darlington to bring the super back to your Sunday. The Super Sunday event will unfold June 3 11 am to 5 pm and it’s free to the public. There’s no pressure to show up at a specific time so WC Recreation invites you to relax, enjoy your Sunday and get there whenever you can. However, there are certain performers appearing on schedule so if there’s particular entertainment you’re hoping to see, review the information below and plan accordingly.
