Winds could be hazardous today; some snow Monday?

The National Weather Service has issued hazardous weather outlooks for Southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware for wind gusts of up to 40 mph, which could topple branches and bring down power lines. The latest forecast in the meantime says there’s a chance of rain and snow showers Monday. The high today is expected be near 44 under mostly sunny skies, but west winds between 18 and 25 mph will make it feel colder.

The winds will begin to die down tonight with the mercury dipping to 26, the NWS says. Looking ahead, there’s a slight chance of showers Thursday night and Friday, but it will be partly cloudy with a low around 35 for New Year’s Eve celebrations Saturday night. For New Year’s Day, the forecast is predicting partly sunny skies with a high near 51. The chance of precipitation returns Sunday night in form of rain followed on Monday with a 30 percent chance of rain and snow showers. But with a predicted high of 45, whatever snow that might fall Monday won’t stick for long. The forecast for Tuesday calls for partly sunny skies with a high near 37.
