West Chester’s annual gridiron clash with Delaware dates back to 1941 and will come to an end for good next season. In 53 all-time meetings, the Golden Rams have managed just six victories, and the program has rarely had a better opportunity to spring a huge upset than on Saturday evening.
Division II West Chester had the edge in total yards and first downs, and outscored the FCS Blue Hens by 10 points in the final three quarters, but catastrophic turnovers led directly to a pair of first-quarter touchdowns, which proved to be the difference in Delaware’s 28-17 escape.
